This Temperature Check is seeking dForce community’s opinion for the opportunity to deploy on Linea, zkEVM incubated by ConsenSys.
Background:
Linea (formerly ConsenSys zkEVM) is a type 2 zero knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) created by ConsenSys.
Linea is one of several emerging zkEVM solutions seeking to couple Ethereum compatibility with the security and performance of zero-knowledge proofs. With Linea, users can benefit from the security and trust of Ethereum, but with lower transaction costs.
According to ConsenSys, the team behind Linea, dApps deployed on Linea will be easily accessible via MetaMask wallet. Linea also offers native integrations with ConsenSys’s infrastructure and tooling for developers.
Linea’s testnet has processed >12m transactions since its launch in January.
Motivation:
There are many benefits for dForce’s deployment on Linea:
- Developer friendly environment
EVM-equivalence requires little development work for the deployment of dForce on Linea, allowing us to migrate existing protocols without the hassle of changing code or rewriting smart contracts. Backed by ConsenSys, Linea will come with native integrations with popular tools including MetaMask, Infura, and Truffle, providing a seamless developer experience for dForce on a L2 network.
- Tapping into the growing Linea ecosystem and establishing the first-mover advantage.
Linea mainnet launch is just around the corner. As one of the launching partners of Linea, dForce can establish brand recognition, increase consumer loyalty, and capture a large market share through integrations before other protocols eventually enter the space as competitors. Such an advantage can make for a significant lead.
- Greater flexibility and efficiency
With a multi-chain strategy, it allows users to access dForce and transfer assets across different blockchain networks seamlessly. dForce can leverage the unique features and capabilities of different blockchain networks to enable a wider range of functionalities and benefits for users.
- Cross promotion to build a stronger community and improved brand recognition.
dForce can partner with Linea and other eco-partners to expand our reach through different marketing campaigns. Taking the ‘Linea Voyage’ for example, it’s a 8-week campaign launched by Linea on Galxe platform with a hope to better reward and recognize early adopters for it’s testnet. Galxe is a leading Web3 community-building platform, who has powered numerous ecosystem loyalty and learning programs for other EVM Layer 2s, including Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon.
Specification
This temperature check presents an opportunity to deploy a complete set of dForce protocols on Linea post the mainnet launch, with USX and Lending as a start:
- USX will be enabled on LSR (for minting & redeeming), lending, and trading.
- dForce Lending will start with a limited deployment of initial assets: USX, USDC, ETH, subject to governance voting result.
- dForce Trade (cross-chain swap) will support USX liquidity pools on Linea network.
- dForce Bridge will support the bridging of USX and DF across all supported L1/L2s, powered by Celer’s IM framework.
